‘Dark of a Distant World’, the new album from XENNON, is heavily inspired by the sci-fi and fantasy movies of the 80s such as The Neverending Story and Masters of the Universe. The album takes the listener on a journey to other worlds as we follow Kurt, a boy who holds the key to saving the planet Eternicron, and embarks on an adventure that transcends time and space.

I'm a bit late to checking out their sounds, this is my first investigation in their work, but it's left a strong impact and I'll be checking out the follow up. The title track especially has a mix of guitar, electronics and female vocals that has always been effective in working their way into my mind. The title track alone is perhaps my favourite song of 2021 so far, but I'll be digging into Wolfclub's back catalogue in the next few months. mattmattinson
